It's about time!

Time flies when you're running around like a chicken with her head cut off!! I really can't believe I have ignored my blog for so long! Of course, with the lack of hits it's not like it really matters much anyway. I have come to the conclusion that I have a lot to learn about reaching out in this cyber world and that this blog is more for me than anyone else.

What has been filling my time, you ask? PIRATES!! Yes, how romantic, how daring, how exciting! Let me introduce you to Capt'n Perry PiRat and TrueBeard.

Okay, so they're not exactly Capt'n Jack Sparrow, but they have been a blast!

I took on the daunting task of writing 11 puppet skits to use for our AWANA council times. I chose a pirate theme because, well, I just did. It seemed like a fun idea. I also chose to make this a series on the Fruit of the Spirit. When I am done I may very well embark on my first publishing adventure and publish them in a book of puppet skits. We shall see how it goes and what connections I can find to make it happen!

Besides writing the skits, I made the costumes for the puppets, designed and painted the pirate ship, and am performing the skits! I did have help cutting out the ship and a crew of great guys built the basic puppet theater.

The first skit went over very well. My brother-in-law helped me out and did the voice for the other puppet. He's so talented in just about every way he makes you want to vomit with jealousy. Of course he did an incredible job! Here's a picture of me puppets in action.

The other thing, besides motherhood and housekeeping, that has been occupying my time is a venture into poetry! I have never really understood poetry and have definately never written it. My curiousity has won me over and I am reading, reading, reading, and doing more reading to try to catch a hold of it. I have written one part of a poem and did get some positive feedback on it from my online writer's group. I have another perculating in my head and may have to post it for my next post. If I follow my trend as of late, I have plenty of time to work on it before posting! Ha, ha!

Oh dear, our toy room has completely taken over our basement and from the sounds drifting to my ears, it may have taken over my son!!! I best be getting back to my primary job as Queen of the World (at least in our house) and rescue my charge!

Blessings!
